No Technology

Camp Waziyatah is a NO-TECH atmosphere. That means no cell phones, no TV, no computers and no internet. In today’s world, kids need a break from screen time and Wazi is the perfect place for it.

Our close-knit community of campers and staff makes for the ideal environment to hone personal skills, make new friendships, and meet people eye to eye with good old human communication. Even our teen-age campers say that camp is a welcome break from the pressure of modern technology. Being at camp helps restore a sense of peace from the constant attention requirements of text messages, social media, videos, and the web in general. Campers who travel with phones hand them in upon arrival and they are charged and given back on the way home. We recommend not sending kids with phones at all. We will let you know that everyone has arrived safe and sound at camp on day one. Campers can bring music players if they have no screen or video capability (like an ipod shuffle) and for reading, they can bring real books rather than e-readers.

Wazi’s no-tech policy means kids have no screens to distract them from a sky full of stars, the laughter of great friends, the call of loons on the lake in the morning, and all the incredible beauty of the natural world in Maine’s gorgeous Lakes Region.
